The Museum of Ideas Moon Gallery: An Exhibition of Ideas Going to the Moon
Creator:
Shannon Mullen O'Keefe
Year Collected:
2024
In November 2024, The Museum of Ideas will send 49 interviews with thinkers, creators, artists, and entrepreneurs to the moon—in a moon capsule of ideas. The ideas will fly on the SpaceX Falcon 0 Firefly Aerospace Blue Ghost mission with LifeShip, our project partner. The destination is Mare Crisium, Moon. Mare Crisium is visible by the naked human eye, from Earth–if you look up in the night sky. This exhibition is a small part of a big mission to preserve a part of us in space. The Museum of Ideas Moon Gallery: An Exhibition of Ideas for the Moon will preserve a sampling of today's everyday ideas indefinitely.
The exhibition will remain on the moon as a reminder of our unique human capacity for imagination.
The Museum of Ideas Exhibition of Ideas for the Moon calls attention to the form and beauty of ideas—and especially to the ideas that, when activated, might tip the future in our favor.
The Festival of the Future exhibition is a curated glimpse into the ideas of women who contributed to this project.
Hope to Inspire:
Let's imagine what's possible! I hope to inspire us to remember our unique human capacity for imagination and also to appreciate the form and beauty and mystery of the ideas that are forming all around us all of the time. One or more of the ideas in the exhibition just might help us to shape our best future together. As Jane Metcalfe said in her interview, “Ideas are things that change how we think. Not just what we know but how we think. And a good idea will hopefully change how we behave.” -- Shannon Mullen O'Keefe
Invitation to Interact:
I welcome you to respond to the Ideas Questionnaire. The ideas and insights shared in this interview will become a part of this project. forms.gle/TRC5iPhdRVDHznFE8
